What are these calculators for?
Every one answers a question a Nepali agent gets asked out loud, in the units it gets asked in: ropani and aana in the hills, bigha and kattha in the terai, prices per aana grouped in lakh and crore, and dates in Bikram Sambat. They are free, need no sign-up, and run entirely in your browser — nothing you type is sent anywhere.
They come out of Kittaa, a tool for real estate agents in Nepal to draw plot boundaries on satellite imagery and share them with buyers. The same arithmetic engine runs inside the app and the mobile version, so a figure here is the figure a listing shows.
